With over 20 years of executive experience, including 10 with non-profit organizations in Northern Virginia, Candice Bennett currently serves as the Deputy Executive Director for Good Shepherd Housing & Family Services, a non-profit affordable housing developer in Fairfax County, where she oversees the day-to-day operations, including finance and property management. Prior to serving as Deputy Executive Director, Candice served as the Development Director where she was responsible for over 260 major gifts to GSH during her tenure and more than $6.2 million in gifts, including a capital campaign capstone gift of $2 million from AmazonShe launched her consulting firm, Candice Bennett & Associates, Inc., in 2003 to provide strategic marketing and research services to corporations, political candidates and not–for–profit organizations. She started her career at Penn, Schoen and Berland and has worked with clients in a variety of industries over the years, including entertainment, technology, consumer electronics, healthcare, financial services, education, managed services, heavy industry, packaged food products, and hospitality. She was appointed in 2017 by Governor McAuliffe to Virginia’s Fair Housing Board. In 2020, she was appointed to the Fairfax County Planning Commission as an At-Large member by Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeff McKay. She also currently serves as President for the Lorton Station Community Association. Candice received her M.A. in Security Policy Studies and B.A. in International Affairs from The George Washington University. She is an alumna of the Sorenson Institute for Political Leadership’s Candidate Training Program (2015) and Emerge Virginia (2017).
