Director Midlands Community College: Transforming Lives through Accessible LearningI have worked in education for over 30 years and am dedicated to making learning more accessible for all learners, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. My journey started with a BA LLB from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, where I discovered my love for teaching while tutoring in the law faculty. This led me to a career in education, where I could impact the lives of learners facing challenges.As an educator at Asithuthuke Combined, a rural school in the Midlands of Kwa-Zulu Natal, I saw the differences in educational resources and opportunities across different socio-economic settings. I focused on giving learners the tools to succeed despite their circumstances, using innovative teaching methods and providing personalised support to improve academic results.In 2000, I joined Midlands Community College as the Grade 12 Maths, Science, and Technology Upgrade Programme Coordinator, which included teaching Communication Skills and providing career counselling. Here, I led efforts to bridge the educational gap for learners with untapped potential and help them follow their chosen career paths. In 2004, I became the Education Manager and expanded my impact to oversee all educational projects and programmes, including Early Childhood Development (ECD). This allowed me to address broader issues and encourage ongoing improvement within the institution.In 2010, I became the Director of Midlands Community College, where I continue to promote quality education for all learners. I use my experience, knowledge, and dedication to help individuals and communities reach their full potential through quality education.The power of education to transform lives and create brighter futures is undeniable. I am committed to making positive changes and fostering a more inclusive and fair society through accessible learning opportunities for all.
