Senior Vice President - Branch Mortgage Operations
Baltimore Maryland
I was promoted into this Senior Vice President leadership role to turn around the underwriting and mortgage loan processing operations and establish standardized processes at 11 branches (MD, VA, NC) for this independent community bank serving the Central Maryland market. My results have been based on my ability to manage, motivate, and lead a team of 150 employees producing $88 million in monthly loan volume. During this time, I: • Developed strategic/tactical plans and implemented the "hands-on" management efforts that continued to drive loan growth, profitability, and operational success of each branch. • Led the integration efforts for the acquisition of 10 branches over the past six years including implementing organizational and cultural change while training management team at each branch on the 1st Mariner Bank operational systems, culture, and values. • Developed and implemented a process standardization strategy that maintained consistency across all branches and established "step-by-step" standards for underwriting, regulatory compliance, and loan processing; results streamlined processes and saved time and money. • Designed and implemented a paperless delivery system for loan originations that streamlined and eliminated redundant processes saving a significant amount of time, money, and staffing requirements. • Led the mortgage loan division through the 2008-2009 financial crisis by transitioning from new loans to refinancing that maximized profitability by capitalizing on low interest rates. • Implemented a regulatory compliance strategy that involved modification of the computer system to maximize compliance while still enabling the loan originators to achieve a high closing rate; extensively involved in translating compliance regulations and communicating updates in understandable terms to the 150 employees.
