Others have come into my life because they simply care and have the gift of understanding without having to experience the tragedy of pursuit. I often find myself referring to these people as "my family." PursuitSAFETY, the only national nonprofit organization of its kind, supports and provides needed services to bereaved families and injured innocent victims of pursuit!I speak to groups of all sizes, from all walks of life, about the inherent risk of vehicular police pursuits; pursuits that all too often result in death and life-altering injuries to innocent bystanders and officers. She addresses the impact these deaths have on the families left behind. I have spent the last decade extensively researching police pursuit policies, procedures and practices. My most important research comes from listening—listening to law-abiding Americans who never thought such a tragedy, the deaths of loved ones, could happen to them.
