During my 25+ year career, I’ve been a software developer, engineering manager, information architect, software architect, and technical product manager—as well as a copy editor, photographer, and graphic designer. Now, in an executive capacity, that broad and diverse background enables me to communicate effectively with various departments, while coordinating and translating between them.Product management is about product leadership. I cultivate collaboration and ownership of the strategic direction across teams, and advocate for a vision of the product that can earn broad support. I work with each stakeholder to understand, mediate, and align their competing perspectives. I gain support not through authority, but by earning the trust and respect of teams. I thrive in “skunk works” projects, working with small teams to establish prototypes or proof-of-concepts of candidate products that rethink fundamental assumptions and provide an ideal vision—whether that be an entirely new offering or a re-envisioning of an established product. While my technical expertise is in server-side architecture, especially in Microsoft’s stack (C#, .NET, SQL, etc.), my passion is the organization, usability, localization, and accessibility of public interfaces—the ideal information architecture of everything from APIs to public-facing catalogs (e.g., app stores or product sites). In addition to managing Ignia—a software development consultancy I founded—I’ve also led the open source OnTopic Content Management System (CMS), which is grounded in my ideal that successful interfaces rely on the marriage of (mostly) device-neutral information with device-specific interfaces.
Listed skills include C#, Microsoft Sql Server, Enterprise Software, Ajax, and 28 others.
