After rewriting that part of the program in simple C he did some benchmarking again to verify that indeed the new non-C++ code is giving faster results. As I was working on the front-end application on top of his back-end algorithm, both Can and I were clients of each other and the way he listened to my requests to modify the data-transfer API / formats were truly remarkable.
