Inducted as a Member in junior year; named VP in senior yearSan Diego, CA (08-2022) – (06-2024)As Vice President, maintained online record of members’ participation in NAHS-sponsored events/activities to oversee their fulfillment of membership requirements, led all official NAHS meetings of the year alongside the President and Coordinator, supervised and promoted NAHS activities such as the designing of custom appreciation cards for the school faculty and members’ creation of portraits for world youth in collaboration with the nonprofit Memory Project, and helped officiate the NAHS induction ceremony for new members at the annual school art showcase.

Contributed 10 hours of work as the leader to both projectsIn junior year, led a group of 8 National Honor Society volunteers in painting a large-scale mural expressing appreciation for the school’s Facilities staff; as project leader, designed the composition that would become the final artwork, communicated with Studio Art teacher for permission to use art classroom and ensure proper use of school art materials during the weeklong painting effort, and oversaw and directed volunteers to successfully complete the mural.In senior year, led a project aiming to better understand and expand CCHS students’ civic engagement; created an online survey distributed to Social Science classes that allowed respondents to share their perspectives on politics at large and the 2024 U.S. presidential election, designed and gave a presentation that incorporated the results from the survey alongside a walkthrough on the California voter registration process to an audience of 40+ students in the school lecture hall.

Performed the role of a character witness as a sophomore, the role of an expert witness as a junior, and the role of a defense attorney as a senior.Learned the fundamentals of a criminal trial in the American justice system; structuring direct/cross examinations to gain relevant information from a witness in an efficient manner, writing and orating Opening Statements and Closing Arguments, extemporaneously raising and responding to legal objections, and maintaining proper demeanor within the courtroom.Maintained close collaboration with fellow attorneys and witnesses; directed witnesses’ performance under direct/cross examination, reviewed lines of questioning and arguments amongst all attorneys to ensure a consistent and convincing presentation at trial.Participated in scrimmages against other schools throughout the year in preparation for countywide tournament; official tournament held yearly in the San Diego Central Courthouse, with judges presiding over the simulated trials and a live panel of attorney scorers present.
