I am a community engagement specialist with a proven track record of building programs, processes, and coalitions to support and grow self-reliant and interdependent communities no matter the scale. My mission is to empower people to define and create healthy spaces by strengthening the connections between the natural and human-created environments. Through the study of Tai Chi Chuan and Daoism I have developed contemplative practices to design and hold open spaces for creative problem solving to emerge. To do this work requires a unique set of skills - team building and project management skills, entrepreneurial vision and strategic planning, storytelling, patience and perseverance. Success comes in many sizes and from unexpected places. I work with emergent strategies rooted in biomimicry and design processes. My master's degree set the course of my life's work through a focus on the role of visual arts (landscape photography) in the establishment of the National Park System. We now know these images left out the people of these lands and there is much reparation work to be done. My thesis documented the role of visual communications in top down/bottom up processes to conserve Wild and Scenic River segments in New England and the Pacific Northwest. Since 2018, Middlebury College and TLI serve as educational and research hubs of the project. My work is generative and includes developing a hub/network in the Champlain Valley in five areas: Food Systems, Sacred Practices, Education, Creative Arts, and Healing Arts.
