TensorFlow Kernel Lead, Principal Eigen Maintainer at Google. I develop accurate and performant primitives which underpin Google's ML frameworks on multiple platforms.

Designing the overall research direction for building patient-specific digital models of the spine. The goal is to aid in the design of surgical implants to address spinal deformities, as well as provide patient-customized simulation to predict and optimize treatment outcomes. Responsibilities include: exploring research avenues, management of project goals and deliverables, developing and evaluating a prototype system with our clinical collaborators, and supervision of graduate students.

Developed material for and taught the third-year System Software Engineering course in Sep 2017. The class consisted of 84 students enrolled in either Software Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering. Topics included concurrency, interprocess communication & synchronization, system software design, UML, test-driven development, and Agile methodologies. Also developed a cross-platform IPC library that mirrors the C++11/14 concurrency mechanisms, used by students of the course. Also regularly teach the Introduction to Computation in Engineering Design course (C programming), with an average of 350 students each term. Rewrote the course library for interacting with a data acquisition module (MCC-DAQ-1208LS), as well as an accompanying system simulator (C/Python). Also adapted an online code judge system to enable students to practice (Python/JavaScript/PostgreSQL). Other responsibilities include updating course materials, and coordinating a team of 30 Teaching Assistants.

One of the lead developers of ArtiSynth, a tool used internationally for state-of-the-art hybrid multibody - finite-element dynamics simulation. Introduced support for virtual filesystems, inclusion of medical images, and redesigned the rendering engine to use modern OpenGL. Also responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of new simulation techniques.

Lead developer for a construction-focused product, designed to measure and record data from various atmospheric sensors and provide interfaces for remote administration and data retrieval. The device had an ARM Cortex-M3 chip, connected to a collection of peripherals (I 2 C, SPI, Zigbee). From Sep 2011 – May 2012, worked remotely from Vancouver.

Taught classes to ages 7-13, belt levels white-orange and green-to-brown. Also helped develop the curriculum, and aided in general maintenance and operations of the club.

Investigated the Babuka-Lax-Milgram theorem and how it might be applied to the system of PDEs involved in Magnetic Resonance Elastography through the use of a general Collage theorem.

Planned and delivered weekly tutorials for second year mathematics courses. Courses include Advanced Calculus I for Electrical Engineers, Advanced Calculus II for Electrical Engineers, Calculus III for Chemical Engineers, and Calculus III for Honours Physics.

Conducted research in number theory and random matrices, with applications to communication networks.

Managed three teams of first year Applied Science students each semester through a term-long design project. Responsibilities include guiding the students, supervising work, and grading the final projects.

Planned and delivered weekly tutorials for first year engineering mathematics courses. Courses include Calculus I, Calculus II, and Linear Algebra I.

Member of a team of eight undergraduate students, responsible for organizing and tutoring during four weekly tutorial sessions. Sessions were offered to all first year Applied Science students, and covered material from all first year courses.

Conducted research in the Radio Frequency and Microwave Lab. Responsibilities include the schematic and chip-layout design of an analog frequency quadrupler using 0.18µm CMOS technology.

Walkhome. Responsible for walking students and staff around campus/surrounding area by request, ensuring safety and comfort of patrons after dusk.

Aided in the design of an aircraft loading simulation package, Galahad. Responsibilities include implementing the model in VB.NET, and documenting both the source code and the theories used.
