Baran Can Yucel graduated from METU with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering in 2021. As a student, he held various positions in different companies. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in the Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering, specializing in Petroleum Engineering, with a minor in the Computational Science Department at Penn State University. He actively engages in research as a member of the Penn State Initiative for Geostatistics and GeoModeling Applications Research Group, contributing as a research assistant. Simultaneously, he has taken on the role of President for the SPE Penn State Chapter for the 22-23 term.Furthermore, Baran has valuable experience working with the Bilkent Energy Policy Research Center, affiliated with Bilkent University, and the Middle Eastern Studies Research Center, where he has contributed to various publications. He has also presented his work in the Energy Policies session of the IV. Turkey Scientific and Technical Petroleum Congress and at the 22nd Annual Conference of the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences, specifically in the Reservoir Characterization and Machine Learning: From Pore to Field Scale session in Trondheim, Norway.Baran's research interests span a wide spectrum of relevant topics, including Reinforcement Learning, Neural Networks, Kriging, Subsurface Modeling, Regression Analysis, Stochastic Simulation, Geostatistics, Statistics, and Reservoir Engineering. His diverse skill set and experiences make him an appealing candidate for various roles in the industry, particularly in data-driven fields, reservoir management, and energy technology.
