In the AIVAS Lab, my work has focused on autism in two different projects. In the first, I am helping to develop and test a game aimed at teaching social skills to autistic middle schoolers. In the second project, my work focuses on testing the visual-spatial skills of autistic and non-autistic subjects. Autistics often display some visual-spatial strengths and we hope to investigate this in the hopes of improving employment opportunities for autistic job-seekers. My work in this area has involved experiment and research design, writing up IRBs, collecting data, and writing papers to publish our results. Alongside my research responsibilities, I have aided in grant writing. I have worked collaboratively as part of a team to publish papers. I also help manage undergraduate research assistants and their work. Lastly, I have had the opportunity to teach Neurodiversity Inspired Science and Engineering seminars during my time at Vanderbilt. In these classes, students engage with guest speakers to learn about neurodiversity-inspired science with the end goal of writing a grant proposal in this area.

At Saddle Up!, we help children with disabilities have the opportunity to grow through horseback riding. Currently, I am an instructor-in-training at Saddle Up!, teaching lessons under supervision. I also am the lead volunteer for our vaulting program, which I have been with from its onset. I teach children vaulting moves and train in new volunteers. In the past, I have volunteered as a side walker and leader in lessons, helping instructors in lessons. I have also volunteered as a feeder to help take care of our horses. I worked as a lesson assistant for a year, helping keep the barn in good shape, prep for lessons, and help volunteers with questions. Lastly, I am volunteering with the grants and fundraising department to help find suitable grants for the organization.

As an instructor, I designed four-week courses for 7th - 11th graders in Cognitive Science and instructed them. These classes culminated in group final projects where students collected data and presented their results. For the mentorship, I designed and completed a six-month mentorship course for 10th and 11th graders in Cognitive Psychology. Each student developed their own research question in Cognitive Psychology, collected data, and presented their projects.

As a Teaching Fellow at Harding Academy, my main job was to step into classrooms when teachers had to leave due to the COVID pandemic. Along with this, I provided differentiated math opportunities for fourth and fifth graders. I met with small groups of students before and after school to provide challenging, age-appropriate math support.

As a graduate student researcher at Vanderbilt, my work focused on psycholinguistics, specifically prosody. I designed experiments, helped write IRBS, collected and analyzed data, and presented my findings. My dissertation explored intonational boundaries and their role in disambiguating syntax. I also helped oversee undergraduate research assistants and mentored an undergraduate honors project. Lastly, I was a teaching assistant for both undergraduate and graduate statistics courses, including running my own lab section multiple times for undergraduates.

As a graduate student researcher at UIUC, my research was focused on psycholinguistics. I designed experiments, helped write IRBs, collected and analyzed data, and presented my findings. My Master's was a large-scale replication of a syntactic adaptation experiment, which we failed to replicate. The subsequent article from this experiment received "Best Article of the Year" from the journal it was published in. In addition to my research, I helped oversee undergraduate research assistants. I also taught Psychology 100 and was a teaching assistant for Learning and Memory.
