ACAT is a woman and Indigenous lead environmental and reproductive health and justice organization that seeks to engage and empower individuals, tribes, and communities across Alaska to advocate for the right to live in a healthy environment. We work at the nexus of environmental and reproductive justice and human rights to prevent and eliminate exposure to toxics through collaborative research, shared science, education, organizing, and advocacy.

I was dispatched to several "off-the-road-system" and otherwise rural villages and communities across Alaska to conduct the 2020 Decennial Census.

Ugashik, Alaska

• Lived in an off-grid cabin in remote Alaska• Operated under a 24-hour schedule• Enumerated the escapement of adult sockeye salmon from river towers at 20+ feet• Employed a beach seine to catch salmon to collect data on size, age, and sex• Collected scale and tissue for genetic analysis• Prepared data to be sent daily to fisheries biologists to determine the health and viability of the fishery to be opened to commercial fishers• Safely operated outboard skiffs, firearms, and other power tools

• Directed social media presence to maximize engagement on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter• Built engaging visual and written content for webpages and social media platforms• Coordinated and executed email schedule and digital member outreach through focused targeting • Drafted compelling email, website, online advertisement, and infographics for social media channels, websites, and press outreach materials• Created dynamic online content for organization and partner events, actions and interviews through photography, video and graphic design • Coordinated with organizers, campaign leaders and development staff to create materials supporting each campaign• Worked with a team to develop communications and budget to optimize engagement with a diverse population of Alaskans statewide• Analyzed successes, failures, and gaps with monthly tracking to improve programs based on data, feedback, and results• Reinforced a culture of non-partisan advocacy in all communications
