The Women's Sports Foundation has discovered that:- Girls who play sports do better in school. - Girls who play sports learn teamwork and goal-setting skills. - Sports have hidden health benefits.- Playing sports builds self-confidence. - Exercise can cut the pressure. Through sports, girls learn important life skills such as teamwork, leadership and confidence.Sports are an asset to American families, fostering communication and trust between adults, parents and children.High school female athletes have more positive body images than non-athletesMore than three-quarters of working women feel that sports participation helps enhance their self-image. Girls’ involvement with sports is related to higher levels of family satisfaction, in both single-parent and dual-parent families.Food for thought.... Why, if these physical and sporting activities prove to be so beneficial at such a critical stage of young female development, do we cut players from high school sports? What are we saying to them? Where do they go? Through World Camp and Sport EuroTour, we have created multiple tiered programs that focus both on the top recruited athlete as well as the team player who will not play in college or beyond. All should have access to the best. All should excel. All should succeed. This is my goal!
