The Special Education Area Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of district policies and procedures in compliance with IDEA indicators from the Department of Special Education and Student Services. This coordinator assists principals and school leadership teams in theidentification and development of sound instructional strategies designed to increase the educational performance of students on IEP's in order that they may be college and career ready.

I was responsible for providing professional development training in Professional Learning Communities. I was responsible for compliance monitoring in my building. I reviewed special education folders and helped my colleagues in areas of need. I trained several new staff members how to complete special education paperwork. I worked closely with related service providers and ensured student received necessary services. I also attended training to keep me up to date with current changes and practices that affected special education. I also worked closely with the regular education team that my students came from to help ensure academic success for them.
