Everyday I get to see my work contribute to a missions that help people live their best life and find opportunities to feel strong and fulfilled- that is what I love about my career in the nonprofit space. I currently work for NCC, a large non-government disability service provider, helping at-risk and medically fragile infants/toddlers, and children and adults with differing abilities around the nation’s capital. My role includes a wide range of responsibilities from creating research-based strategic plans and mapping out new and innovative programs to leading and organizing academic partnerships. My passion for helping people with unique strengths and challenges started during my time in Madison, Wisconsin when I became involved with a specific population: Veterans. This interest led me to conduct independent research on barriers to care for Veterans and service members with support from the Warrior Centric Healthcare Foundation. During that time, I also assisted a small team of doctors open Premier Health Express Urgent Care, a clinic for Veterans and military families in Central Maryland. I currently serve on the leadership team for the Veterans Health and Wellness Foundation and am humbled by the opportunity to advocate for Veterans and their families in gaining access to care that is culturally competent, supportive, and empowering.
