I am a first-generation student at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh currently majoring in Sociology with a minor in African American Studies. I completed my certificate in Social Equity & Diversity. I strive to pursue a Master's degree in Public Administration after my graduation from the College of Letters and Science in May of 2025. My passion for Sociology began in my later years in high school. I was a part of astudent youth group called “Youth 2 Youth Advocates 4 Justice.” This group was organized through a Nonprofit called Fit Oshkosh which provided Racial literacy education and training. Through the youth group, I had the opportunity to be trained by End Abuse Wisconsin and the Wise Women Gathering Place in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin about healthy relationships, teen dating violence, and how to facilitate discussions with youth in my community around these topics. I was a part of the Wisconsin Teen Council that helped plan and organize the Teen Summit that End Abuse Wisconsin held. I was also on a research team with my youth group, Winnebago Health Department, and University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Communications Professor Dr. Jennifer Considine in the Spring of 2019, where we held youth-led discussions to learn from Students of Color about their experience in predominantly white institutions in the Fox Valley. We presented our research at the Wisconsin Public Health Association Annual Conference in May 2019. All of the opportunities and experiences I encountered in my years of high school led me to be someone who thinks about the WHY, not the WHAT. I like to know why things are happening because it helps to find the root problem of a situation. That is why I knew majoring in Sociology was the best fit for me during my time as an undergraduate student. I am currently working as a Titan Captain this summer through New Student and Family Programs at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh where I facilitate discussions and activities for incoming students to feel welcomed and comfortable with each other and share the many resources UW Oshkosh has to offer for student success. Outside of school and work I like reading, enjoying the nature around me usually by reading in my hammock or hiking. People can usually find me spending time with my family and friends, or bullet journaling. I also love sharing new music I found and going to concerts. I’m definitely a lover of Jazz music.
