Responsibilities• Overall Command of the ship safety, security of her crew, cargo and pollution prevention.• Safeguarding the Owner and Company's interests at all times• Maintenance of the vessel• Safe navigation of the vessel as required by Company procedures and ensuring that all navigational watch keepers are fully familiar with these procedures• Reporting to DPA all matters pertaining to accidents, hazardous incidents, non-conformities and all safety matters.• To give instructions on all matters of operations, safety, security and environmental protection.• To comply with relevant national and international regulations, and with the Company Management System. • To ensure that all crew are fully motivated in the observation and implementation of the Company Management System • Ensuring that Emergency Organisation & Emergency Party Responsibilities are known by each crew member• Organizing and conducting Health & Safety committee meetings• Ensuring adequate stability trim and stress at all times• Ensuring that new charts and publications are up to date • Responsible for ensuring that shipboard drills, responding to potential emergency situations are carried out in accordance with the set schedule. That an efficient and rapid response is effected, and acting in accordance with the relevant shipboard contingency plan.• Passing orders in a clear and simple manner and ensuring that all personnel can communicate effectively in order to carry out their duties, • To ensure the validity of Ship’s Certificates and Equipment Certificates are up to date• Maintenance of Shipboard filing and Company records • Responsible for the payroll of the crew.
