Capt. Gaurav Lal is currently a mentor at Start2 Group, a global premier startup ecosystem platform that serves as the ultimate destination for growth-oriented startups, corporations, investors, and governments to shape and scale ventures with growth potential. He is an advisor to businesses and startups that operate in the maritime technology, D2C e-commerce, gaming & animation, adventure tourism, and Edu-FinTech space.He has led the Global Underwater Operations Team for Maersk Line, the largest shipping company in the world. His team was an integral part of the Fleet Optimisation vertical of Maersk Line which was responsible for about 750 ships. He is a Master Mariner and a former Sea Captain. He has over two decades of international maritime experience in operations, including general management, in the maritime industry.Gaurav was recruited as one of five Captains from Maersk Line’s entire fleet for a highly visible position to shape and drive the business agenda under the Network Optimisation & Fleet Performance initiative for reducing operational costs as part of the Global Voyage Centre. Prior to transitioning to a shore-based role, Gaurav had become one of the youngest captains in Maersk Line and commanded five container vessels trading worldwide. During his seafaring career, he has garnered extensive crisis management experience and played a key role in the successful execution of two rescue operations on the high seas. Gaurav holds a MBA from London Business School, a B.Sc. in Nautical Science, a Diploma in Ship Finance and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
