With over 20 years in the construction industry, I have focused on sustainable building practices and mass timber innovations. Here’s the path that shaped my journey.I’m Greg Hoffart, founder of Tree Construction Inc., which I established in 2008 and operated until 2023. Over those years, we set benchmarks in green building, delivering Canada’s and the U.S.’s first Passive House-certified commercial building, as well as the first certified Passive House in Revelstoke. Tree Construction was built on principles of environmental stewardship, creating homes with a conscience, and working with local suppliers, trades, and a design process centered on energy efficiency and ecological responsibility.My path began with an apprenticeship at CANA Construction, where I achieved top grades, earned multiple scholarships, and immersed myself in sustainable construction techniques. This early experience solidified my commitment to environmentally responsible practices, driving me to pursue a master’s in Sustainable Design at Boston Architectural College, where I deepened my knowledge of net-zero and energy-plus homes.Today, I’m leveraging this foundation in my new venture, E1 TIMBR. This company channels everything I’ve learned through Tree Construction into providing sustainable mass timber solutions that redefine construction’s role in environmental sustainability.
