I was born on Halloween. Which is all you really need to know about me. But bios are supposed to be more than one sentence. So you should know I'm allergic to peanuts. And tree nuts. But not cashews. I'm prone to accidents and grew up in the emergency room of Degraff Memorial in North Tonawanda, New York. I'm told I was a sweet boy, so naturally the nurses wanted me to be happy. I grew accustomed to their kindness and learned to ask for suckers. But little Erik pronounced his “S” like an “F.” How cute is that?Time passed, and the cuteness wore off. Thankfully it was replaced by an ability to recognize patterns and express ideas through writing. And photography. And music. And sarcasm. My keys to a successful life are:To love yourself even though you’ve got a ways to go.To love others even though they’ve got a ways to go.To marry your wife young before she realizes she can do better.When I'm not writing bios for myself, I enjoy turning lights off around the house left on by my 9th grader, Adeline, and my 11th grader, William. My wife, Meredith, is a stone-cold fox, and only occasionally leaves a light on. I admire her faith, her devotion to family and her compassion for the ignored. Our family actively supports Hope Rising Together, a non-profit changing lives in one of the poorest country on the planet, Sierra Leone. You can catch us walking our Double Doodle, Wrigley, on the mean streets of Clarence, New York, while our children stay home and pretend that they live by themselves. I enjoy whiskey and am a certified Level 4 Whiskey Sommelier.
