Managing Director, Chief Pilot, Marketing Manager, Brand Manager, It Systems Manager

Brisbane, Ipswich, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley And Somerset Regions Australia

Pterodactyl Helicopters was started to indulge my passion for flying at net zero cost. I was making enough out of my other company to cover what we needed financially. It began with my wife and I and a newly restored Bell 47. The GFC in 2009 put an end to that and it became very clear that for us to survive we would have to make Pterodactyl work profitably. This required a 2 pronged approach. Firstly create a company culture of superior customer service and a fun environment to work in. With only one helicopter we simply operated from our house but as we grew and added other helicopters and pilots, we moved to a distributed business model (the second prong). We went from owning assets all in one place, to cross hired choppers placed in strategic locations around the region. The distributed business model required a strong digital backend hosted in the cloud. Using a heavily modified ZOHO CRM for the customer journey and Microsoft SharePoint for aviation operations. Every aspect of the operation was available to everyone on their mobile devices from anywhere. My roll was to create and maintain a company culture that provided a fun and safe work environment for the team as well as the paying customers. In this environment, customer service was always at the forefront. I was surrounded by great staff that knew their job and I let them do it. Managing Director, Application Developer

Oasys Software Pty. Ltd.

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

Oasys software Pty. Ltd. Was created to take ownership of AutoSYS, AutoSYS Lite and The Application Loader. These are software packages designed to run with AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT. We had several thousand licenses of the software sold but by 2015 sales were waning and major development stopped. From 2015 all we did was maintain the software to run on the current release of AutoCAD. The only users still using the software were rusted on and either died or retired. Due to downsizing we closed Oasys software in 2021 and the software packages maintained under the Captain Mike Brand.

Managing Director

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

The Brisbane floods combined with and GFC forced me to return as Managing director in 2011. My roll was to bring the culture back and set the company up for sale. This could not have been possible without the great team that made up the company.Pterodactyl Helicopters was still in its infancy so I was able to manage both companies. It was during this time I learnt from our Marketing Manager Debbie Manning the benefit of great marketing. I owe her a huge debt. I used those skills to make Pterodactyl Helicopters an outstanding success.ADA CadPartners was sold to A2K (KarelCAD) in 2013

Managing Director, Cad Consultant, Application Developer, Certified Inventor Expert

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

My roll was to create a company culture that provided a fun and safe work environment. In this environment, customer service was always at the forefront. My mantra was to surround myself with great staff that knew their job and I gave them the freedom to ‘own’ their job and do it well. The documented induction process took new recruits through all aspects of what it was required to work as a team in this environment. This translated into a company that was respected for its great customer service which in turn was reflected in the sales awards we received.Under my leadership and with a great team we won the following Autodesk Australia Awards:2003Best Performing in Manufacturing ASC2004Highest Revenue Achieved Manufacturing Solutions2005Highest Revenue Achieved Manufacturing Solutions2006Highest Revenue Achieved Manufacturing SolutionsHighest Revenue Achieved Educational Products2007Top Subscription BookingsHighest % Achieved Over TargetHighest Revenue Achieved Manufacturing Solutions20 Year Service Award
