 Overall in charge of safety, security, operation and management of the vessel in line with company policies and national and international laws. Responsible for implementation of ISM, ISPS, ISO and OHSAS onboard company vessels. Ensuring optimum performance and training of officers and crew with respect to navigation, cargo handling and stowage, minimum port and terminal turnaround time, vessel’s peak performance towards various 3rd party inspections including oil major vetting inspections, port state inspections, annual, intermediate and renewal surveys. Liaised with the owners, charterers, port agents, class surveyors, P & I officials, port officials for smooth and effective vessel operations onboard the vessel. Interacted with ship managers on day to day running of the vessel and submitted reports to the shore management. Prepared the vessel for audits and inspections in line with company policies, commercial requirements, class and port state regulations, international codes and conventions and submitted the reports to the company. Interacted with the shore management with respect to officers and crew training requirements and made appraisal reports of senior management onboard. Managed a mix of various nationalities on board and motivated the crew to optimize their performance and ensured vessel’s running to the highest standards as set by the company.
