Cara spent her grade school summers attending performing arts camp in New York before attending Northwestern University where she studied acting and creative writing. It was in an audition gone wrong that she discovered she was funny! After graduation, she worked in the Chicago theatre and toured as a comedy performer with Healthworks Theatre Company before making the move to LA. But she didn't like many of the roles available to women or the treatment of women in Hollywood so, on a dare, she wrote a short for herself which ended up on the front page of Funny or Die... and she learned she was also a script writer. Since then, she has amassed quite a body of darkly comic yet poignant material.Cara's original pilot won the coveted 2020-2021 Humanitas Prize and she currently has a TV series in development. She serves as a freelance writer for Variety, Shondaland, Cosmopolitan, Travel and Leisure, Yahoo! Finance, and others; her video shorts have been featured by The Guardian, MSN, and even Mobina Jaffer: senate and human rights chair for British Columbia.
