I am a storyteller. I have studied story as both an art and craft and am a perpetual student of story, always striving to be better at seeing it, mining it, telling it ... "getting" it.A different word, a different tense, subtle shifts in phrasing ... Editing, for me, is drawing as much power as possible from every page, every paragraph, every sentence, every word. It is considering the order, the literary devices, the part of speech, the SEO ... literally every element ... in making the work as accurate, efficient, effective, and evocative as it can possibly be.Story. When the writing seeks to tell one, I am uniquely able to analyze how well it does - or does not - do so. Story, like music, has a sequence of stages, a cadence, for which we "listen" and that our subconscious anticipates and experiences. To tell a brilliant story is an art. To construct that story to harvest the greatest power from it is a craft, one that can be studied, learned, practiced, and understood with greater depth over a lifelong love affair with language.I am committed to working at every step and stage of my journey to improve my craft, to "get" the story and tell it in a way moves and makes an impact on its readers ... to be a storyteller.
