I am part of Macmillan's ambition to inspire millions to get involved in reaching and improving the lives of people affected by cancer. As Fundraising Manager for West of Scotland I work with local supporters including businesses, individuals, community groups, volunteers and media contacts to raise awareness of our vital work and how each supporter can make a difference. I support people to maximise their fundraising and recognise the difference that they are helping to make for people affected by cancer.

As an Area Event Manager I have complete ownership of all aspects of events within my region covering Scotland, North East England and Northern Ireland.Plan, manage and deliver exemplary, logistically complex mass participation events within this area that produce exceptional supporter experience and substantial and sustained income for Cancer Research UK including Race For Life, March On Cancer and Pretty Muddy.I have become confident to work from home unsupervised and can manage my time effectively and prioritise during the very busy event season.Have a good understanding of Health and Safety guidelines and practices, bearing in mind the different requirements of different local authority areas. Produce risk assessments, safe working guidelines and safety plans which are event specific and ensure these are adhered to.Ensure all events are delivered within budget.Liaise with external organisations and develop and manage relationships with supporters and key stakeholders to help guarantee events are a true success.I have learned to be commercially aware and am confident to negotiate with suppliers to ensure quality of service while keeping costs to a minimum.Drive the marketing activity and promotion for my events, guaranteeing maximum support and participation.Ensure ambitious fundraising targets are met by building the awareness of Cancer Research UK and the wider events portfolio throughout promotional activities and while delivering events.Recruit, manage and retain volunteers to support the delivery of promotional activity and events. Ensure volunteers are well briefed for each individual role and are confident they have received sufficient training to fulfill their position.Interview, recruit and supervise Event Assistants during event season.
