Chicago

Coordinated photo, video and text staff across 14 states from Texas to Illinois. Led on-the-ground coverage of the unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, and subsequent grand jury. Launched a pilot program to hire and train young journalists to match and pick up routine spot news stories to allow more seasoned journalists to focus on original reporting.

Boston

Managed 26 reporters across six states. Edited key stories. Set daily and long-term priorities for state and national news. Dispatched to Newtown, Conn., to lead a team covering the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary. Led coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Atlanta

Oversaw copy flow and assigned editing for stories across 13 states. Among the earliest editors selected to help establish regional filing centers. Served as primary editor on the day’s biggest stories, including the Gulf oil spill, deadly tornadoes and major court cases including the Casey Anthony trial. Sent to Tokyo on special assignment to edit and oversee coverage of the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster.
