Established in July 2013, the mission of empowerHER is to empower young girls who have experienced the early loss of their mothers. The organization instills confidence and reduces isolation through a community of sisterhood that offers hope to each of the girls we serve. We offer the only program in the country offering support to the young girl who has experienced the early loss of her mother.empowerHER offers two types of programming for the young girl and her family. We host group activities that reduce isolation the girls may feel in their own communities and offer opportunities for them to meet others who can relate to their loss in a relaxed, fun and comfortable environment. We currently host an Annual Mother’s Day Retreat and an Annual Summer Beach Bash.We also offer a year-round, one-on-one mentor match program for girls age 5-18. Each girl is matched with a positive role model from the community in an effort to promote positive growth throughout the grieving process. Some of the activities planned with the mentor are those her same-age peers typically experience with their mothers, such as back-to-school shopping, holiday celebrations, navigating the school and job application process, and more.Our events and one-on-one mentorship remind the girls they are not alone and help them to see this beautiful life at their fingertips. We help to celebrate the lives of their beautiful mothers who will miss so much. We are entirely-volunteer driven organization and all programs and activities remain at no charge to the family.
