My Story1989-2008 Jun 1988 - Jan 2008In June 1988 I turned 21, graduated from Cambridge and got engaged all in one week! In quick succession I was married, qualified as a Chartered Surveyor (RICS) and had my first son. I then worked as a Chartered Surveyor for 10 years for Fletcher King, Hillier Parker and most recently CBRE as a property valuation Surveyor. I kept trying to fit my career around my 3 sons and vice versa and to be honest I did this rather badly! I also suffered from a long-term illness (hyper-thyroidism) and both my parents died, my father when I was just 18 and my mother in 2009 from Cancer. In hindsight, if I had had coaching myself I would have managed my career, being a mother and wife and life’s other curved balls much more successfully.In 2008 I had an epiphany moment when I decided that not living a working life I loved for the past 20 years was enough. After a couple of false starts as a teacher and Counsellor, I retrained as a Professional Coach and have not looked back. I love what I do, I’m good at it and I earn from it. Bingo!My own Professional Services background and personal journey informs my coaching and my clients value my honesty, compassion and experience and trust me to help them make sense of, and a success of their own lives.I also understand entrepreneurs – I was married to one for many years – and I appreciate how they think and operate. During my life I’ve been touched by divorce, within my family by depression and addiction, and from my client coaching work heard many unconventional stories. I do truly believe that we are all simply our own variations of ‘normal’ or in the words of Johnny Depp, “I think everybody’s weird. We should all celebrate our individuality and not be embarrassed or ashamed of it.”‘Success’ and ‘happiness’ mean different things to each of us, so let me support you to achieve the success and happiness you seek.
