I was born in Cd. Juárez, México. Later I came to the U.S. and graduated from MIT. My most memorable experience was playing the violin for the MIT Symphony and if I were not an engineer, I would be a musician. Music is still one of my passions.After graduating as a mechanical engineer, I went back to México where I started as a manufacturing engineer and then worked my way up to supplier quality and then product engineering. I had the opportunity to work with external suppliers and to travel around the world including China and Singapore. I made design modifications to the endoscopic medical devices while maintaining the highest quality levels. Then I was hired by Medtronic in 2010 and I came back to the Greater Boston area as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. The company sent me to Galway, Ireland where I honed my continuous improvement skills and became a Master Black Belt. Here in Massachusetts, I was able to reduce the amount of labor required to produce the catheters and with higher yields. Eight years later I started working for Raytheon which was a completely different industry. I adapted to working on the shop floor in partnership with the union employees and obtained DoD secret security clearance. It was a pleasure working for this company and I met some of the most genuine and disciplined people.After years of being out of school, I went back to the university and obtained my master’s degree in Engineering Management from UMass Lowell. That same year I was called to work for Biogen. There I was a senior manager and I had two direct reports, one in Switzerland and the other in the U.S. I had the opportunity to apply my skills within the global supply chain department to streamline business processes and remove waste. In 2023, I joined Fresenius Medical Care as a process improvement manager, and I continue to remove waste wherever possible. Recently I was asked to teach the Engineering Project Management class at UMass Lowell as an adjunct professor. It has been an honor and a privilege to be able to teach at the university.
