Contribuiton to the study entitled Validation of AVHRR and MODIS Coarse Resolution Burnt Area\products across Australian Southern Forests. An active participant throughout the whole project, doing the analysis of the data, also participating in the preparation of the report by reviewing relevant literature and creating tables, graphs and figures.The purpose of this study was to validate the AVHRR and MODIS burnt area products (from 1990-2013) across forests in Australia south of the Tropic of Capricorn using state fire history datasets and a forest cover map derived using large scale aerial photography. To conduct analysis, many steps had to be carried out in a GIS environment (extensive geoprocessing operations such as merging; clipping; doing overlays; buffering; and attribution as well as examining and querying the burnt area products and state fire history datasets to extract information about fire incidents). In addition, a database had to be built and queried extensively.
