Millions of community health workers globally – 70% women – are not paid, supported, or supplied. Community Health Impact Coalition is making professional community health workers the norm worldwide by changing guidelines, funding, and policy. We research to equip international norm setters with evidence. We advocate to influence global financing institutions. And we activate to mobilize in-country CHW networks. CHIC was founded in 2019 and includes CHWs and global health organizations in 40 countries.We exist because community health workers work. Carey served as the Senior Project Manager on a multi-year regulatory change initiative for the Wells Fargo Corporate & Investment Bank. Carey was responsible for the annual project budget, hosting fortnightly Operating Committee meetings with senior executives from Risk and the Front Office, and providing support across the project lifecycle.

Carey served as the Program Manager for a multi-year regulatory change initiative focused on minimum capital requirements for market risk.

Carey was seconded from Living Goods to CARE International in Zambia to drive the set up and execution of Live Well Social Business, a multi-sectoral initiative owned by CARE International, backed by Barclays Bank and GSK, and supported by Living Goods. Carey worked across all partner organizations and assumed the role of Deputy Managing Director for Live Well to test new access models that leverage sustainable business models to deliver social impact. Carey was instrumental in helping the partners (Living Goods, CARE, Barclays, and GSK) win the Bond International 2017 Corporate Partnerships Award in recognition of their contributions to Live Well.Carey played a key role in building the Live Well team from the ground-up from planning through proof of concept. Carey led the initial market research and supported the development of a six-year business plan that helped secure six-figure investments in the start-up social business. Carey played a lead role in recruiting and onboarding a full complement of local staff, managed stakeholder reporting and communications, owned the implementation plan, and influenced the overall strategic direction.Carey also supported Living Goods' regional partnerships aimed at institutionalizing high-quality community health systems. Focus countries included Zambia, South Africa, and Tanzania.

Living Goods is a non-profit organization operating in Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, and Myanmar. Its goal is to build a sustainable distribution platform for products designed to fight poverty and disease in the developing world.As part of the Partnerships and Advisory Team, Carey was responsible for developing and managing partnerships with multinational NGOs, including Population Services International and CARE International. Carey developed a comprehensive operational blueprint to facilitate the adoption of Living Goods business model and high-impact approach by partner organizations and provided advisory support to partners during the planning and implementation phases. Carey's major contributions include the establishment of direct operations in Kenya, establishing a presence through partner-led and donor-funded operations in Myanmar and Zambia, and significantly increasing interest in the Living Goods brand among the global international development community.

Carey was seconded to CARE International to serve as the Deputy Director for Live Well Social Enterprise, a CARE-owned business with seed investment / support from Barclays Bank, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), CARE Enterprises International, and Living Goods. Live Well aims to expand access to basic healthcare and hygiene products through a network of trained, supported Community Health Entrepreneurs.Carey was instrumental in designing, registering, and launching Live Well, LLC. She helped recruit and onboard the Live Well team, manage the product portfolio, set up operations, secure funding, and ultimately expand the social business to support hundreds of Community Health Entrepreneurs across five districts, distributing hundreds of thousands of essential products to underserved Zambian communities.

Carey provided supply chain technical assistance to the Procurement Department of the Mozambican Medical Central Medical Stores (CMAM) as part of a five-year USAID-supported health systems strengthening project.

Carey provided analytical and project management support to various clients including the World Bank Group, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the United States Postal Service (USPS).
