• Stephen Leads the technical architecture and data architecture, design & implementation of Car Trawlers ETL for handling Big Data. Stephen guides the Data Engineering team towards solutions that serve the needs of the business and drive value by supporting the data strategy pillars.• Design and build extensible data acquisition tools and integration/scheduling solutions for extracting data and processing as batch or on stream. Code reuse through plugin modules and standardised frameworks for each etl subsystem. Also modular approach to SQL as software. DBT is used to map the data model and Jinja templating enables us to do DevOps and migrate code from Test to Dev. Data Quality is supported by our inhouse data Quality framework.• Containerised Airflow components using docker and applied to ECS with deployment pipeline using Jenkins. Implementing ETL/ Data Load architectures within the multiple Ecosystems whether batch or streaming. • Stephen enjoyed being a founding member of the Dublin HUG(Hadoop User Group) and met many people spanning all levels of the Technical Data Community in Ireland from which we could contract for projects to implement our Technology POCs. Stephens passion for technology applied to data was presented at multiple meetups in Dublin over his full time at Cartrawler showcasing how we balance build on open source with commercial cloud. • Refactor and improve data integration platforms to provide optimal performance under increasing data volumes and complexity. Example Successfully migrated the Data Warehouse to AWS Redshift from Hadoop and a few years later migrated to Snowflake Data Warehouse.
