This course introduces students to the basic principles of science and risk communication, with a focus on theory and philosophy as a way to inform practice and critiques of practice. This course is designed to familiarize students with the scholarly literature that surrounds science and risk communication, along with the philosophical and social sciences base that undergird modern developments in the field. The literature and philosophy can allow students to not only appreciate the nuances of science and risk communication, but give them a more grounded set of tools to help them critique how science and risk communication are practiced in different contexts. The students will then be able to propose new research and projects that are unique to different science and risk-related phenomena, and for specific audiences.

Domuschola International School is a progressive international school located in Manila, Philippines. We are one of the few schools in the country that offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme for the Primary and Secondary year levels for almost 20 years.As an Admissions Officer, my role is focused on student applicants' admissibility to the school. I coordinate with the Academic Team to evaluate applications, conduct interviews, & administer entrance exams. On the other hand, my marketing role involves coordinating with parents/students regarding admission requirements and options, transfer/articulation, and related issues. I help the organisation with Open House Events, school tours, and visits to other schools and universities to represent and market the school. I also develop marketing materials on social media. The KaBayani Challenge Fund is the support component of the KaBayanihan series of intergenerational dialogues which gave young people a safe space to express and participate in decision-making processes on issues that affect their lives and well-being. The KaBayani Challenge Fund selects outstanding youth-driven initiatives that would help address their needs in the community. Five youth groups, between the age 13-24 years old with at least 3 members, whether formal or informal , were selected to receive Php50,000 each. These selected groups will be requested to commit in participating series of virtual capacity-building workshops for the implementation of their proposed project.As a mentor, I am commissioned by UNFPA Philippines and YPEER Pilipinas to perform the following specific tasks and functions:● Coordinate and meet at least once a week with mentees to guide their project’s implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and documentation process ● Help mentees find possible partners for the sustainability of their project● Provide brief report on the progress of their mentees’ project

Tinker House offers fun and affordable STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) activities for kids, one tinker project at a time.As a Program Manager, I was in charge of the overall management of Learning Facilitators under a variety of science programs (Cosmic Adventures, Wizards Adventures, Super Secret Agent). I developed the programs' design and supervised the development of all instructional materials, including presentation materials, participant guides, handouts, kits, workshop/class aids and other related materials. This was a project-base/consultancy position.

The British Society for Immunology is the UK’s largest organisation representing scientists and doctors who study the immune system. The aim is to ensure that the public benefits from the success of immunology research, and as such, one of our priorities is around the topic of childhood vaccination and immunity. Their latest project aims to engage the public about the importance of vaccines and the beneficial role of immunology research in advancing global public health. As a public engagement professional, I developed a variety of innovative and impactful engagement resources which include interactive, hands-on activities about immunisation and the importance of vaccines. This was a remote project-based/consultancy position.

Sciendkific Explorers (SkX) was a volunteer-led organisation that I established dedicated to developing scientific literacy within communities by increasing awareness, appreciation, and curiosity towards Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).As the founder, I developed and conducted science outreach programmes to more than 70 underserved kids/public school students, and trained more than 50 volunteers on how to effectively facilitate these programmes. I also initiated other science communication initiatives, such as social media postings to communicate science concepts, organising a "science night" showcasing talents of scientists/artists, and doing donation drives.

Within the nurturing walls of Mindbuilders Preschool, caring teachers strive to encourage and enhance children in all areas of development.As Head Teacher, I taught early childhood education, developed lesson plans, and helped organise school events. I also evaluated student applicants' admissibility to the school by conducting interviews, & administering entrance exams. This was a full-time position.
