CurrentNon Commissioned Officer in charge of the Corridor Enforcement Unit (CEU). This primarily proactive four member unit is mandated to liaise with Inter-Agency partners in the community to address associated impacts of criminal activities of the unhoused population. Utilizing municipal bylaws, provincial statutes and the criminal code of Canada to increase the safety of the community and those vulnerable persons living on the street. This is accomplished by using a focused approach accessing local analytics to target those causing the most harm within the Trans Canada Highway Corridor area which includes the area where the Overdose Prevention Site and the Warmland House (homeless shelter) are situated. Parallel to this, the CEU team uses their inter-agency partnerships to connect clients with the community supports they need around health, addiction and housing. All of this is perform while conducting patrols in marked and unmarked police vehicles, on foot and on bicycles. I continue to be a Media Relations Officer for the North Cowichan /Duncan Detachment and use this role to share information as well as to highlight the great work the frontline officers and the CEU officers do every day.
