I have expertise in aquaculture, biosecurity, marine ecology, environmental assessments, ecological surveys, sponge taxonomy and larval fish taxonomy. My research experience on a wide range of species including snapper, salmon, kingfish, groper, toheroa, green-lipped mussels, Asian date mussels, lobsters and sponges. I have excellent writing, editing and data interpretation skills, and have written over 90 client reports, two books/book chapters, and 15 publications in peer-reviewed science journals. I have a strong focus on client liaison to ensure that client requirements are fulfilled and that projects are of a high standard and delivered within agreed timeframes and budgets.A significant part of my work has also involved assisting companies, councils, council owned organisations, and NGOs with technical advice, the assessments of environmental effects, and consent monitoring. I have evaluated the ecological effects of marine farms, stormwater and wastewater discharges, dredging, and a range of coastal developments. This work has also involved the preparation and presentation of evidence at consent hearings.
