About Carina Valentin Jensen

Portfolio: www.carinavalentin.comI am passionate about understanding human beings and creating solutions that make their everyday life easier.Getting to the core of the pains and challenges that people experience in their everyday life, how they overcome them and why these challenges occur is what makes me tick. When we get to the core, we are able to create valuable solutions effectively. Understanding people is a proces, and I have previously done so through a mix of research methods. I have- designed questionnaires and done market research to get a general understanding of a topic; - designed, prepared and conducted workshops and focus groups to co-design with users; - done one-on-one interviews with potential users - tested prototypes through usability tests. During my studies digital concept development I discovered how to combine my passion of understanding people and systems with my talent for creative problem-solving. Humans should always be the center of design, and so I love applying human-centered design and design thinking principles to create innovative solutions that is truly valuable to the user. You will find my observing how people meet their daily needs and face challenges, always obsessing over how systems could be changed to make life easier, less complex. Aesthetics is also important to me, and over the years I have learned that the ability to spot and create good and beautiful design doesn’t come over night. It’s a craft that needs to nursed and maintained. Realizing that I will never get to an endgame when it comes to design was humbeling but also inspiring because it means that I can always continue to improve.

Jeg havde i min praktikperiode den bærende rolle i designet af Forlaget Fortæls digitale univers, hvor deres brugere kan samles om at udfylde mindebøger. Designprocessen tog udgangspunkt i brugerundersøgelser, og analyserne heraf. Med succes blev disse brugerindsigter konverteret til et æstetisk og brugervenligt system. I løbet af praktikken havde jeg også mindre grafiske opgaver som opsætning af casebog i InDesign og design af plakat og postkort i Illustrator til BogForum, et event hvor forlaget havde en stand.

Som studentermedhjælper hos IDadvice, fik jeg gennem research til udarbejdelse af artikler, et indblik i nogle af de teknologier (særligt RFID), der bruges i mange IoT-projekter. Denne viden anvendte jeg i nogle af de projekter vi arbejdede med på studiet, hvor jeg uddannede mig inden for digital konceptudvikling. En anden stor opgave hos IDadvice var optimering af website, både visuelt og ift. SEO. I den forbindelse udvidede jeg min erfaring med Wordpress og med at skrive SEO-tekster. Som et forsøg designede jeg også en webshop, til nogle af IDadvice's fysiske produkter, hvor jeg fik erfaring med woocommerce.
