Classroom Teacher
Current• Design and implement lesson plans utilizing numerous learning strategies according to students’ academic needs to include group and individual discussion, discovery and presentation • Generate healthy culture for children to learn and grow both academically and socially through hands-on and project-based learning as well as design of field trips that enhance curriculum themes• Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to improve and integrate data, systems and practices that affect student outcomes• Teach a variety of subjects including reading, mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, citizenship and basic computer skills following the Iowa Common Core Standards• Create a positive learning atmosphere while establishing and reinforcing appropriate standards of behavior• Prepare, administer and grade tests and assignments facilitating evaluation of student’s progress and providing recommendations to student and families resulting in enhanced learning and engagement• Document areas of opportunity and progress of students utilizing data to adjust learning strategies and consultation with families • Role-model interpersonal skills and resolve student difficulties through timely and sensitive partnership with parents, teachers and administrators• Facilitate Student Council Program providing direction and guidance to student participants• Create monthly classroom newsletters informing families of classroom activities and encouraging at-home learning• Promote safety and health in the school system by serving as a safety committee member • Participated in co-teaching training utilizing learnings over multiple years with several teaching partners
