• Take command of and coordinate complex and high profile criminal investigations state wide. • Liaise with state and commonwealth governmental departments and international law enforcement agencies providing written reports and attendance at meetings. Present evidence in all Courts of Western Australia.• Supervision and management of Police officers during protracted/ complex operations, providing leadership and performance management.• Lead multi-jurisdictional operations whilst briefing staff and constantly updating managers as to the progression of the operation.• Liaise closely with intelligence and Analyst Officers to obtain pertinent data/ records during investigations.• Manage and supervise teams of investigators. Responsible for the planning and control of intelligence based proactive initiatives, management of resources and risk analysis.• Lead and coordinated field operations and the apprehension of violent recidivist offenders, made decisions with little to no intelligence available. • Selection of staff and ongoing development and training of officers.• Provide important administrative, coordination and advisory roles within the Specialist Crime Portfolio. In addition to ensuring an effective and efficient response to crime related incidents and emergencies.• Acts as a contact/resource point for crime related issues requiring Specialist advice or response. • Responsible for coordinating the Specialist Crime response to terrorist incidents or other large scale emergencies involving WA Police’s 100 to 500 Response Plan. • Coordinate the Specialist Crime Portfolio’s provision of criminal investigation services to the districts. This involves making an assessment of the seriousness of the crime related incident and ensuring that the relevant squad/unit makes the appropriate response. • Provide advice to officers about most policing matters and respond to requests for approvals pursuant to the Criminal Investigation Act.
