I have been a premises manager now for 5 years. I currently work in a primary school in central Leicester. A 140year grade 2 listed building. I have responsibilities for 6 staff currently. I have the responsibility to procure various services from external contractors for our major projects and compliance. Along with project managing the works we’re having done. I have set up our own service plan and maintenance schedule, which had massive cut our costs, improved maintenance reliability and accountability. Coming out or the local authority maintained school service was a brilliant step forward for us. I also play a key part in keeping our costs down by doing a lot of work internally. The role is very varied, but below are the key responsibilities within the job. General position role,- maintaining the school- compliance checks, fire, water, asbestos etc- management of the cleaning team- procurement of contractors for various projects - health and safety responsibilities - preplanned maintenance coordination - reactive maintenance, in house fix or attaining the correct contractor - key holder, unlock and locking of the building - and many other little jobs
