I am currently working as a CTO and Technical Architect specialising in re-designing and architecting Technical Infrastructure and Big Data. Taking a set of requirements and translating them into a cost effective and fully functional infrastructure capable of exceeding a customers expectations. Ci6 Ltd has taken me all over the UK and especially the USA where I spent time in sunny California designing and implementing the Infrastructure for a Worldwide network of fully robotic 2.5m Astronomical Telescopes. Ci6 Ltd is currently contracted to the NIHR (National Institute for Health Research) and I have managed the Technical Services Team to implement the NIHR new Strategic Infrastructure to support the flagship CSP big data application. Built on Oracle 11g and Hadoop, this meant a complete redesign of their infrastructure. CSP has now gone live and the infrastructure is being used for further deployments. My work with Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope Network involved providing Active Directory and Cisco Networking Consultancy to it's sites in Liverpool, UK and Santa Barbara, US. We also provide consultancy for their global network of observatories, including the Faulkes Telescopes based in Hawaii and Australia.

Managing and providing senior technical escalation to a fast paced, extremely busy consultancy and Remote Network Management Centre. My role was split between the management of the team, and providing technical consultancy to a large customer base. My consultancy role incorporated pre-sales design and specification of migration work and rollouts of greenfield sites as well as advising on optimising customers existing environments. I was first employed to manage and build up the Client’s 3rd line Remote Network Management Centre. Using Project Management skills based on a Prince 2 and ITIL framework, building up the services to become industry leading. I designed, from the ground up, a structure of true 24/7 Pro-active and reactive software support. I have now progressed into a more focused consultancy based role, whilst still overseeing the day to day management of the Remote Network Management Centre, reporting directly to the board of Directors.

• Providing 2nd line support to onsite engineers/administrators, customers helpdesks and end users.• Remote Network Management. Providing a complete managed service of customers networks including multiple server environments across multiple domains. • Including being on call for Out of Hours support.• Server administration via Terminal services, PC Anywhere, Netsupport Manager, VNC, Timbuktu and Citrix using ISDN, POTS and DSL.• Exchange 5.5/2000 and ISA Server 2000 administration and installation configuration.• Cisco router configuration and administration.• Daily backup administration using, Arcserve and Backup Exec for both Windows NT/2000 and Novell based servers.• Maintaining and administering our own in house segregated LAN used for secure connection via VPN, RSA and PKI technologies to customer’s sites and servers.• Customer site visits when required. Including auditing, installation work and server re-configuration as part of disaster prevention/recovery.

• Repairing, break fix, fault diagnoses, upgrading and building systems/servers.• The installation and maintenance of network infrastructure such as Cat5 and 10base2 (BNC) cabling, patch panels, server/comms racking and switches.• Travelling across the UK to client sites to install, repair and support software, computer hardware, printers and network cabling.• A key holder for the Birkenhead premises workshop and warehouse I was entrusted to open and close the operation in the morning and evening.
