The company is led by Director, Supervisor & Producer Carl Grinter who specialises in photorealistic visualisation, ideation, digital and analogue film making methodologies, storytelling with characters or avatars creating invisible or fantastical visual effects. His practice interests are in emotional involvement and connection, creating new experiences that engineer a new way of seeing the world to create compelling and memorable journeys and narratives. Carl has a Practice PhD, an MBA (Distinction) and a BSc (Honours) in Chemistry.

Azimuth post production is a full service post production facility specialising in long and short for documentary and creative storytelling across multiple formats and platforms. I have been part off a team as the consultant creative director managing the company commercially and operationally from a creative and production oversight perspective whilst we also constructed, developed and made operational with a new creative team their 11,500 square feet, seven story technologically advanced state of the art facility in Holborn, central London. I have been involved in selecting, developing and integrating the creative team and sofftware, hardware and IT network systems across editing, grading, online, audio design, motion graphics, animation and VFX, finishing multi-series international programming at 4K DCI resolution and Dolby Atmos audio design, alongside visual effects and graphic design heavy short form branded content films.

OR Media are a leading independent UK documentary and specialist factual production company producing national and international films, series and episodic for theatrical distribution, broadcasters and Video on Demand publishers. I am responsible for the production and creative supervision of the company’s computer animated, graphic design or visual effects based creative sequences and their integration into live action so they sit seamlessly within the creative storytelling within all film documentaries in production. Working with in-house and out of house suppliers we bring to life future places, architectures, environments, explanations or reconstructions to agreed budgets, schedules in innovative and creatively surprising and engaging ways. I manage the creative collaboration, direction, production and development of teams, budgets, schedules contracts and sequences for the creative productions we undertake using animation, visual effects, motion graphics, virtual production and AI content generation..

Responsible for developing a VFX, animation and post-production sales and creative production VFX pipeline, overseeing production, supervision at world class creative post production house. Leading of a team of 10 post and VFX producers and business development team, I worked between building relationships, pitching on projects, budgeting, negotiating deals, scheduling and maintaining the VFX pipeline as a supervisor and producer for long form and feature VFX productions as well as advertising, marketing, music and entertainment. Rushes had a team of 3 colourists, 12 VFX Flame artists, 20 CGi animators, 4 motion graphic designers and 2 offline editors which required me to develop with the VFX production team robust systems for generating work, managing and delivering work to the highest calibre. Rushes was part of the Deluxe Group of companies is a global company and requires regular co-ordination and integration for productions across global centres in different time zones alongside development of new business and market relevant strategies in a high velocity global creative technology business.

Joint managing director, founder and partner of highly regarded visual effects, animation, design and film post-production company undertaking features, commercials, music projects, TV branding and promotion, drama, science and marketing communication projects. I was instrumental in the company’s creative and strategic development as Production Director and for driving the business via the production and creative departments. I developed new and existing relationships, pitched, presented, budgeted and scheduled projects and won commissions from UK and European film companies, US Studios, commercial brands, advertising agencies, film directors and producers, graphic designers and broadcasters. I also developed and established a motion capture studio and a CG animation department, a colour grading department, an editing and design team, ensuring the revenue enabled us to meet financing obligations, growing the team from 6 people at start date to 45 people. I was a board member managing our venture capital company 3i and other financial investors and retained 25% of the shareholding.

Small innovative business undertaking image based design, animation, visual effects and music-based productions utilising sub-contracted CG and 2D Design and compositing workstations owned by companies not using equipment to capacity in central London. This involved negotiating trusted relationship to utilise cheap rates during unsocial hours that companies regarded as downtime (flexible hours during day or night). Iwon commissions from TV Station creative departments, corporate brands and advertising agencies, film directors and producers, graphic designers and broadcasters, overseeing the visual effects, motion graphic and organised the creative team and equipment. Iexpanded our design team from 2 to 6 artists. I then negotiated share swap with a company owning equipment who wanted the good will of our business to develop their operation and raised money with venture capital company 3i to build Red Post Production in collaboration with the businesses owner.

Hibbert Ralph was one of UK’s leading animation studios in London from 1980’s to 2010’s, specialising in commercials, broadcast programming and feature films. I started as runner/general assistant, working through positions of assistant animator, production assistant and then on to producer of animation, live action, stop frame animation and visual effects for leading director Jerry Hibbert, who was the early mentor for my professional career and taught me much of the foundational practices I have utilised across my career.
