About Carl Kochan, Phd

"If you're not prepared, it's not pressure you feel, it's fear." - Bruce Bochy As a health and human performance leader, I know firsthand how important preparation is to achieving success. Throughout my career I've developed individualized programming that has driven athletes to achieve the highest levels of performance as I've guided performance departments across two highly competitive teams, earning recognition as: 2016 MLB Strength Coach of the Year > 5 World Series ChampionshipsA staunch competitor and experienced leader, I enact and lead programmatic improvements to ensure players receive exemplary performance training, are conditioned to achieve their highest performance, and adequately recover to do it again the next day. To drive success, I continually seek to further my fellow co-workers knowledge and strive to ensure my actions elevate teams to a position superior than when I arrived. A FEW SUCCESSE & KEYS BACKGROUND NOTES>ENHANCING PERFORMANCE: I have helped refine training programs, creating SOPs to make it easier for S&C teams to streamline various methodologies into working, adaptable, and proficient standards that meet individualized athlete's needs. During my tenure at the Giants, I helped build the team's first comprehensive strength and conditioning program from the ground up, elevating player performance and contributing to 3 World Series Championships. >BUILDING ROBUST TEAMS: I've built highly skilled S&C teams that improved athletes' performance via movement preparation, energy system development, strength, power, speed and agility training. As I've worked to enhance performance coaches' skillsets, I've assisted in my co-workers advancement and creation of new roles within the organization that facilitated ongoing success. >SHARING KNOWLEDGE: As someone who strives to promote performance, I regularly speak at conferences to assist others in my field. As a coach and leader, I am relentlessly committed to empowering players and staff to reach their fullest potential. This commitment to excellence extends equally to my own development - as I hold myself to the same rigorous standards I expect from others. This dedication recently culminated in earning my Ph.D. in Sport Psychology, where I successfully defended my theory on psychological resilience - The 1% Model. My journey as a lifelong learner continuously shapes how I approach both personal growth and team development.
