I just completed a packaging automation project, a capacity increase project and a product coding project for Scapa. Recently I managed the equipment transfer across our three sites into a brand new facility. This also included the transfer of a new business from another company to this site. I work on a part time basis for this Healthcare Contract Manufacture. I will be retiring as of May 31, 2019.

Webtec Converting, now part of The Scapa Group, PLC, is primarily a supplier of Medical Device products for the Healthcare and Personal Care business sectors. Located beside the beautiful Smoky Mountains in Knoxville, Tennessee the company was founded in 1998 and has grown to become a contract manufacturer with proven performance. Manufacturing products such as woundcare dressings, surgical tapes, labels, and tube holders, Webtec has expertise in converting technology including rotary die cutting, island placement, web handling, printing and packaging.I provide Engineering services including process development, project management and manufacturing efficiency improvement and cost reduction. I am growing technical capability for this expanding company. In the last 3 years I have installed state of the art making and packing capacity to support this growth. I am also leading important productivity improvement work and new business process development effort. This work has eliminated touches, improved productivity and reduced the time from order to shipment for a number of our medical wound care products.Most recently I led a process search and demonstration effort which has resulted in landing a contract with a large medical device company for the manufacture and packaging of wound care products. This family of products launched internationally in 2012. Volume has grown very quickly and I have been working to increase capacity on existing equipment through rate, efficiency and manufacturing planning activities to support this exciting product launch.In 2014 I was the lead technical engineer responsible for developing the making and packaging process for a new to market medical device product for a major medical device provider. This project is just completing startup and the production of the first order for the customer.

Organized and conducted an 8 week school for engineers which teaches corporate engineering work systems using a simulated project in a classroom environment. Between sessions the course content was improved based on student feedback and results.Improved the effectiveness by adding "learn by doing" work sessions to the classes.Updated the project simulation financials that better reflected today's costs which improved credibility. Significantly improved the teaching materials and effectiveness of the Reliability Engineering model used for the simulation.

Managed the engineering effort required to support the Global Oral Care businesses (Crest toothpaste, toothbrushes, whitestrips; Fixodent denture adhesive; Scope and Crest Pro Health rinses; Glide floss). The work included rapid product and package upgrades, new product launches, acquisitions, capacity expansions. Managed 15 engineers and contractors directly and 4 plant technical organizations globally. Involved work allocation and review, technical approval of project work, administrative and Capital budget control, and salary and career management.Doubled the overall business with no increase in engineering headcount.Introduced high speed dentifrice packing capacity at costs 30% less than competition.Doubled capacity of existing dentifrice paste making systems in China.Doubled the whitestrips manufacturing capacity.

Put together and led an engineering team to deliver a new product from the concept stage through to startup of the national production operation. Thermacare is a topical heat product used to treat musculoskeletal pain. The project took 6 years to execute requiring pilot production systems to be built for consumer testing and a two city test market. A two line system was then built to support the national launch. The products and processes were uniquely designed and developed.Built a diverse team comprised of P&G engineers, contract engineers, U.S. and European equipment manufacturers. Consulted in the reapplication of the key process for two other new products in unrelated business areas within P&G which has resulted in unique process competitive advantage.

Developed and managed the technical organization at our Canadian Paper Product facility during a period of intense product change and competitive activity for both our diaper and feminine hygiene brands.Relocated a group of consulting engineers from SNC Lavalin in Montreal to Belleville that increased on site capability and reduced costs.Led the effort to develop fold and wrap packaging for North America for Always thick shaped products. This represented a large effort for the site as this type of activity was typically led by the company's engineering group in Cincinnati.Managed the design and installation of a dual lane high speed pantiliner line (first of its kind) that cost effectively increased capacity for U.S. market supply.

Responsible to manage the technical operations for the plant site including: - Utilities and grounds operation - Environmental and fire protection - Storeroom and Machine shop operations - Engineering Project Management and execution for the siteBuilt one office and two warehouse expansions.Managed a $65 million project which replaced 8 diaper machines and increased utility capacity while maintaining manufacturing operations and diaper supply for the Canadian business.Developed local consultant engineering support that allowed for product upgrades to occur simultaneously with U.S. parent operations.
