In my current role at Chief Medical Officer of Cognoptix, I’ve served as the principal investigator leading clinical trials since 2010. I took on my current CMO role because of the tremendous potential of Cognoptix’ new breakthrough technology (“Sapphire”) for transforming the ability to diagnose and treat patients in the early stages of cognitive loss. For the first time, we’ll have the ability to evaluate patients in an office visit, without referral or outsourcing for invasive, expensive additional testing. Consistent with my enthusiasm for Sapphire, I was also one of the first to study and report on the safety and efficacy of the Sapphire System when used to detect beta-amyloid in the human lens.Other career highlights:• I've conducted over 300 trials for Alzheimer's Disease, and was involved in clinical trails for every Alzheimer's drug that has been approved. I was involved in multiple clinical trials for Avid Pharma's approval for Amyloid PET imaging, including the autopsy study.• Trained radiologists and neurologists in the interpretation of amyloid PET imaging.• I serve as the Director of Research at Palm Beach Neurology, Premiere Research Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida, and the Clinical Professor, Division of Neurology, Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.• My research focuses on clinical trials to test new drug candidates for the management of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). I’m also interested in novel biomarkers to aid in the early diagnosis of AD.• I’m a frequent presenter at medical meetings, and have written many articles, that have appeared in such prestigious journals as the Journal of the American Medical Association, Neurology, and Archives of Neurology.• I’m a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, on the editorial board JSM Alzheimer's and related dementias, and formerly a member of the scientific review board for the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation. • I’ve been selected by Best Doctors in America for 12 consecutive years. I received my medical degree from Cornell University’s Weill Medical College and completed a residency in internal medicine and a residency in Neurology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire. I was also a United States Air Force Major and Chief of Neurology of the United States Air Force Hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany.
