• Program manager for a “Skunkworks”-type, $105M, 42-month program to develop a 12,000-pound hybrid electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft for DARPA’s VTOL X-Plane program. Led our team to a successful PDR at the conclusion of a competitive Phase 1 program. Aurora Flight Sciences was subsequently down selected by DARPA to proceed with the detail design, development, fabrication, and flight testing of the X-Plane prototype in Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the program.• Designed, fabricated, and successfully flew a 325 pound subscale vehicle demonstrator (SVD) to validate flight control laws, avionics, aerodynamics, and aircraft configuration for the full-scale 12,000 pound X-Plane. This active flight test program continues to support our full-scale development program.• Directed a number of key technical risk reduction efforts, including three wind tunnel tests, development of a hardware-in-the-loop simulator, and a full-scale power generation and propulsion test cell.• As prime contractor, managed several subcontractors, including two large aerospace and defense conglomerates and introduced SCRUM/Agile as the key management tool for this program.

• Profit-loss responsibility reporting directly to the President and COO.• Directed the design, development, manufacturing, marketing/sales, and post-sales support for all SUAS products and special projects. • Led the development of the second-generation Skate SUAS, a small unit tactical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) asset, from initial design to deployment to the warfighter in 13 months. The system was deployed to Afghanistan in support of US military dismounted patrols and force protection missions for over a year.• Developed a five-year strategic plan and annual operating plans covering the productization and support for all products in the SUAS business sector including research and development programs, special programs, and mature products.

• Program manager for the Sikorsky CH-53K main rotor pylon design/build program and the CH-53K engine nacelles build-to-print program. Worked directly with manufacturing and production staff to manage production flow, tooling design and fabrication, manufacturing engineering, and part fabrication. Led the team to a successful Critical Design Review (CDR) with Sikorsky and the US Navy/US Marine Corps. Successfully delivered main rotor pylon first article early to Sikorsky need date.• Program manager for the Advanced Composite Cargo Aircraft (ACCA), an Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) program to investigate cutting-edge composite wing, fuselage, and empennage manufacturing materials and processes for the next generation Air Force air mobility aircraft.• Successfully led the design, development, and test of four unmanned air vehicle systems over a period of five years; GoldenEye 100, GoldenEye 50, DARPA OAV-II, and the GoldenEye 80.• Responsible for the management, leadership, and profit/loss performance of the DARPA Organic Air Vehicle (OAV-II) and the US Army Future Combat System Class II unmanned air vehicle systems with a combined contract value of over $40M. Successfully led the team through three competitive down-select program phases from preliminary design to first flight. Delivered and successfully flew the OAV-II prototype air vehicle four months ahead of schedule.• Delivered all OAV-II program milestones and deliverables on time and on budget, including the Systems Requirement Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and prototype flight vehicle.• Developed reliable and consistent bottoms-up cost analyses, basis of estimates (BOE), and detailed MS Project schedules for multiyear development programs. Managed Earned Value and consistently met program budgets on high risk research and development programs.
