Aurora Flight Sciences was subsequently down selected by DARPA to proceed with the detail design, development, fabrication, and flight testing of the X-Plane prototype in Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the program.• Designed, fabricated, and successfully flew a 325 pound subscale vehicle demonstrator (SVD) to validate flight control laws, avionics, aerodynamics, and aircraft configuration for the full-scale 12,000 pound X-Plane. This active flight test program continues to support our full-scale development program.• Directed a number of key technical risk reduction efforts, including three wind tunnel tests, development of a hardware-in-the-loop simulator, and a full-scale power generation and propulsion test cell.• As prime contractor, managed several subcontractors, including two large aerospace and defense conglomerates and introduced SCRUM/Agile as the key management tool for this program. -
