During the sale of the recently vacated site I met with the new owner after which I successfully joined The British Bed Company as Production/ Factory ManagerUtilising my vast expertise I was responsible for managing all aspects of the factory production, including allocation of resources, health and safety, ordering of raw materials, coordinating production schedules.I was most effective in the management and development of a team of 80 employees. This aspect of my role was probably the most critical due to the high staff turnover, low morale, and underperformance. Its performance was made possible by the flexible nature of its production process and equipment and the outstanding willingness and dedication of its workforce. My role whilst working with a recognised union presence was to ensure maximum efficiencies were obtained from equipment and processes whilst managing a multi national workforce through the processes of continual improvement and change management when necessary in order to ensure maximum benefit was experienced through the introduction of LEAN manufacturing principles.Following the sale of the business to an American corporation it was decided to relocate the business to China where I became heavily involved in the responsibility of ensuring a successful transfer.
