Recruited back to the hospital to expand the program I established and ran in 2004 to 2007. Selected Accomplishments:- Led the development and implementation of five state and regional programs: inpatient education, outpatient education, advocacy, community reintegration, and transition services. - Collaborated with medical professionals, school district personnel, volunteers, and community agency partners to launch and operate programs, including a therapeutic arts program utilizing art, music, theater and movement.- Developed and delivered training in state and federal special education laws, school processes, and continuity of academic progress to hospital staff, medical residents, community members, and state-wide school district staff.- Mentored a team of trainers to deliver Idaho’s first state and regional pilot program associated with Cogmed, a scientifically validated method that improves working memory and attention. - Served as a liaison and patient/family advocate for medical and educational meetings in community schools for St. Luke’s Hospital patients.- Reviewed neuropsychological, physical, occupational, and speech therapy evaluations to develop the most appropriate accommodations for pediatric medical patients.- Assisted in writing grant proposals that secured funding for program expansion and sustainability. Established Idaho’s first state-wide K-12 hospital-school and medical-education transition program:- Defined the program objectives; created the curriculum and content; and trained medical residents, hospital staff, and community members to promote awareness of the hospital-school services. - Recognized as an expert and invited to speak at national conferences on development, execution, and funding for K-12 hospital-school and transition programs for chronic and seriously ill students. - Assisted in writing grant proposals that secured funding for program sustainability. - Played a pivotal role in shifting my position from 50-50 hospital and school district-funded to 100% hospital-funded.

Created, marketed, and delivered services and accommodations for children with unique and special needs, including advocacy, support, and resources for parents of children with chronic and serious illnesses and injuries: - Provided training in special education laws (IDEA and Section 504), illnesses, and accommodation options to parents, teachers, school personnel, and medical staff nationwide. - Developed programs for hospital-based schools, affiliated camps, and non-profits, including Make-A-Wish Foundation. - Wrote and published four resource books, a children’s book, and a book of short stories related to the medical-education process, hope, and healing for parents, schools, and professionals.
