About Carla Branco

I have been working in the last 20 years as a Senior Executive, acting in multiple environments, public and private institutions, such as: multinational and state corporations, schools, libraries and NGOs, mainly in the fields of Sustainability, Social Responsibility, Education, Culture and Content.Creating and evaluating cultural projects, also being a curator, which are things I have done professionally, can also be seen as strategic actions for better relationships with customers, investors, artists and influencers. All of that represents my familiarity with Public Relations and Institutional Marketing fields.Restructuring and implementation of new areas, financial management and budget design for different projects, being able to raise funds through sponsor/partnerships and grants are functions at which I have excelled during my professional life.Quite often, I have developed cultural, social and educational projects involving more than one country or institution. One of the educational initiatives I led, involving new media and technology, was considered by Qatar Foundation and Microsoft as one of the most innovative in the entire world.I am also a professor, lecturer, translator and spokesperson. I feel very passionate about knowing different people and cultures. One of my better developed skills is to motivate coworkers, creating and managing teams.

Working for a global social organization headquartered in Brazil, that seeks to empower people to fight poverty, stimulate entrepreneurship and create change makers through the conscious use of technology, I was able to:- Restructure a program called Communities, related to digital training youth in a socially vulnerable condition. Alongside that, had the challenge of integrating the area with another one dedicated to working in partnership with Brazilian public schools, impacting teachers and students of Elementary and Secondary Education, directly benefiting 9,059 youngsters in 17 states and 296 teachers, social educators and librarians in the whole country.- Create the Opportunities area, focused on the development of learning paths, aiming to change the lives of Brazilian disenfranchised youth, supporting employability, entrepreneurship and return to education. There, managed to raise funds for developing mobile apps prototyped by youngsters. Another initiative was the implementation of a national online Volunteers Program.- Redesign the most strategic partnership of the institution with the granter Microsoft (key account), starting relationships with different areas of the company, not only in Brazil but also in their headquarters in the USA, such as: DX-Innovation, Commercial Partners, Education, CELA-Philanthropies and Branding. Also, have been acting as the focal point for the international brand, CDI Global, since there is a regional grant for Latin America which includes, besides Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. Regarding Microsoft Grant for 2017, have strongly acted in the renegotiation proposing the reshaping of the metrics and showing the purpose evolution of the project.- Identify strategic institutions for enriching the learning paths for the youngsters, starting new partnerships with, for example, the British Council, through the global program called Active Citizens, and the Brazilian Olympic Committee.

  • Instituto Cervantes
    Cultural Manager
    Instituto Cervantes Mar 2002 - Jan 2009
    Rio De Janeiro Area, Brazil
Raised the institution's profile at local and global level. Because of the publicizing of the cultural activities in the media, the Institute is now a Spanish reference in the country for schools, press, publishers, etc. During that period, developed a great number of partnerships with different public and private institutions.Oversaw the Cultural Department (Performing Arts, Plastic Arts, Science, History and Technology, Cinema, Music, Literature and Thinking), in Rio de Janeiro, of the institution designed to promote Spanish languages and culture and Latin American cultures from the countries where Spanish is the official language. One of the targets of that work was to strengthen branding.Managed and curated major national and international cultural projects such as the “Reading Marathon” of Don Quijote, in the year of celebration of the 400th anniversary of the publication of the book, for an audience of more than 5,000 people, with press coverage not only in Brazil, but also in Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries, generating great visibility for the event and for the related institutions. There was a major budget restriction and the solution was to think of a minimal cost, counting on in kind donations and having all the economic items almost fully covered by the other two partners involved (Ediouro Publisher and CCBB/RJ).
