About Carla Walker

I am a director of environmental justice and equity at World Resources Institute-US (WRI-US), a global research organization that works to advance solutions for a more sustainable and equitable future. I have a master of public administration (MPA) degree from Harvard University and over 15 years of experience in developing and managing complex projects for civic engagement and public policy initiatives at various levels.My core competencies include strategic communications, government and community relations, organizational operations, project development, and team building. Developed EV Cincy Ambassador program to deliver EV education across online platforms reaching more than 10,000 digital interactions with the inaugural Ambassador team, designed EVCincy website, created the EVroom Zoom framework for online events to engage and educate the Cincinnati audience. * Developed strategy to equitably build out public EV infrastructure which served as the backbone for Ohio EPA grant application for 14 charging stations.* Negotiated MOU between city and utility for $1.2 M energy efficiency funding mechanism and developed a suite of energy efficiency programs for low-income residents living in multifamily buildings using that funding to provide 60 in-unit retrofits, 70 families with energy efficiency education materials, and bill assistance; grant funding for 10 capital upgrade projects. *Supporting the development of Climate Save Neighborhood workshop series to create a pilot for equitable community engagement that will drive the next iteration of Cincinnati's climate change strategy. * Leading development of equitable community engagement process for the development of new transit projects.
