My law practice is focused on employment counseling and litigation and regulatory compliance. I regularly advise clients of all sizes on federal and state employment laws, including employment discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful discharge, employee leave matters, wage and hour issues, employment policies and procedures, and non-competition/non-solicitation agreements. I have experience in developing and implementing employment policies and procedures, including employee handbooks. I also conduct training for employers on a variety of employment-related topics, and I have experience in speaking to associations and other groups on employment law matters.I assist employers with daily personnel issues such as the hiring, discipline, and termination of employees. In addition, I advise clients during the investigation of employee claims, counseling them through major employment decisions in an effort to avoid litigation. Should employee claims result in litigation, I have successfully defended numerous charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and cases filed in federal and state court. My undergraduate degree is in accounting, and I studied business and tax law while in law school. Given my training and interest in business and tax law, I also assist clients with commercial litigation, business dispute resolution, and trust and estate litigation. I enjoy helping clients find workable solutions to their problems. I strive to anticipate my clients' needs and timely implement appropriate strategies.
